Dumb question, single flares

Discuss all things ear stretching

by jlaf » Wed Jun 02, 2010 12:21 am

So, my very first time stretching I got my kit I ordered in the mail today. My holes were already pretty big so the first two sizes didn't fit or had no "sensation" to them.

To the point! Single flares, o-rings, are to be placed front or back side of the ear? I currently have mine in the back (so the o-ring is resting on the back of my ear).

Thanks!~

It doesnt matter, ive seen them worn both ways, its just how you want them to look, it wont affect anything. Normaly however single flares are worn with the o-ring on the back (how you are wearing it).

Point of single flares is to make it easier and safer to wear plugs at smaller sizes. A 6G plug will have an approximate 200% flare (about a size or two up), so that's very dangerous for the health of your ears. However on larger sized jewelry, the ratio of how large the flares are is much smaller, and consequently less of a stretch is needed to get them in.

Point is, single flares give you the option of having the look of flared plugs at smaller sizes, so common sense dictates the flares go in front. But you can wear them either way, just looks like you have non-flared-at-all plugs in.
