So tonight, as I was laying in bed thinking to myself how heavy and uncomfortable the new 4g taper was in my ear that I'd just upsized to, I wishing to myself that there was some way I could get my 4g tunnels in that wouldn't involve them shredding the insides of my freshly stretched lobe.
I was staring over at where the zip lock bag was that was holding my 4g stuffs, and noticed the PTFE tape sitting near it. And then that's when a light switch in my head went off.
I remembered how putting the plumbers tape on a new washer for leaking taps made the threading feel "softer" and not sharp. So I gave something a try.
I cut a small length of PTFE tape off, wrapped it around the threading of my tunnel, and pushed the excess through the center of it. Then using the normal butting it up against the taper, I pushed it through.
Didn't hurt, the edges weren't sharp, and I can now where my comfy ass tunnels and not some bulky tapers.
I suggest this to anyone else who wants to put externally threaded jewellery into a fresh/young stretch but is worried about tearing or cutting their lobes
Oh, and the tape is easy to remove too. I just used the point of my taper to "fish out" the bit of tape tucked into the center of the tunnel then pulled it off the threading. Or you could have someone else remove it for you if you have a person handy
