Advice on a Small Stretch

Hi all,

I got my lobes pierced about 6 years ago at the mall with a piercing gun, so I assume that my current size is either an 18 or 20 gauge.

I have a pair of 2.0-mm rings that I want to use, so I'm looking to stretch slightly.

Is it a bad idea to go straight to 12 gauge using tapers? I know they suggest you only go 1 size at a time (2 if you're using smaller gauges), but the smallest taper the shoppe had available was a 14-gauge, so I just got the 12-gauge taper.

Should I go for the 14-gauge first, or do you think the 12-gauge would be safe to stretch to initially? 12-gauge really isn't that big, but I wanted to check.

I got my ears gunned too, I was going to start with a 14g, but then after trying it just was too big. I know it may seem like those smaller stretches are less important and that you can skip them, but you shouldn't do it. I went from a 18-16-14-12-10 for my smaller sizes. But on 16 and 12, i only stayed for about half a month kind of used them as an inbetween size even though you should technically wait a month at least for each stretch.

Darn. Like I said, the shop I get my stuff from doesn't have anything larger than a 14 gauge. I might just have to get a couple 14 gauge stretching crescents and hope they work. :-\

Yeah Its not going to be to bad if you have to use a 14, you can always order online if you have too. The fact that you have had your ears done for a long time means that they might have stretched a little on there own maybe.

I do order online, I order from a shop called BodyJewelleryShop.com because they're one of the only places I've been able to find that have decent hoops with decent clasping mechanisms. I'm just surprised they don't have anything larger than a 14.

And yes...my previous earrings have been a struggle to put in sometimes because of the clasp, so there's a chance I've stretched it a little bit during that process.
