What stretching method is best when stretching to larger sizes? Should one use oils/lubricants (holey butt'r, emu oil, etc) when stretching to new sizes?

I am currently at a 6g and am curious to the various methods.

What kind of oils should I use? I hardly bleed. Do you think I'll have cat-butt as a result? My ear is sore, but it's as if I was freshly pierced. There isn't anything visibly wrong with the hole, but I am worried about stretching further.

I recently attempted to stretch from a 6g to a 4g. When I tried, neither ear gave any resistance, but my right ear bleed a little. No sir! This will be my first piercing. Why would my holes be elliptical? I'm assuming you're against piercing at a larger size?

I'm getting my ears stretched either Thursday or Friday. I was wondering what size is best to start with? I plan on stretching to a 0 gauge or 00 gauge.
