here, this should help.
1. get a proper set of plugs. I would suggest 4g single flared Glass or non flared surgical stainless steel.
2. continue your daily oil rubs. i massage my ears just out of the shower. my pours are more open and its easier to remember it in my daily routine.

If this was your initial piercing then it needs 5-6 months to hela and after that you can stretch one size at a time with 2-4 months or more in between depending on how your ears feel.

If you went from 5 mm to 8 mm, you skipped a couple of sizes, plus you stretched way too fast. I would say yes. When there is a tear you need to let your ear rest by downsizing, because you could end up with a weak spot if the tissue doesn't get to heal propperly.

I agree. You need to downsize and baby the hell out of your ears, sss and gently rub on some e-vit oil. And don't stretch again for at least 3-4 months or more.

Definitely need to get those out of their ASAP. For fresh stretches, you should be using surgical stainless steel, titanium, or glass. You shouldn't be using any kind of porous materials in a healing piercing/stretch.
EDIT: Also, I believe PTFE and Niobium are safe for healing, but I would wait on ...

Apart from risking infection, the porous surface also irritates the skin more, it can be like sandpaper to a new, sensitive stretch.
