You can tape at any size, it's generally easier at bigger sizes though.
At smaller sizes the tape can be quite cumbersome while you are trying to wrap it around the plug but it is possible.

Re: my 1 & 1/4 inch gauges
Both of your ears aren't healthy, not just the right one.
The left one is really thin, the flares on your eyelet look bigger than your lobe.
You should downsize in both lobes or go naked, if you want to keep your lobes that is.

Re: Does My Ear Look Good?
You stretched 2.4mm, it might not seem like a lot, it might have not "hurt" much but you indeed did damage to your lobes.
You should at least wait 3-4 months at the least then continue stretching.

Many people have problems with this stretch, your ears probably weren't ready to stretch.
You really shouldn't be wearing tapers as jewelry or stretching with acrylic jewelry.

J hooks?
No idea what they are but it sounds like you shouldn't be sleeping in them. Get some single flare plugs. It should solve your problem.

No.. You should start at the size your lobes are at.
Maybe go to a piercing shop and try different sized jewelry until you get the right size.

It's nothing to worry about. Although if you just stretched a week ago you shouldn't be taking out the jewelry.

Re: Pain when stretching
Pain should never be associated with stretching, if you feel pain stop what you're doing.
I'd suggest downsizing to at least 8g and doing sea salt soaks to help your ears heal from the forced stretch.

Re: Tunnel went through my ear
This happened to me as well, except at 8g.
Just baby your ear and continue doing sea salt soaks but other than that leave them alone.
