using tape
using tape
you may have seen i've posted a few of these questions about can you use ____ to stretch your ears and i'm just curious as i don't like tapering ... i've seen a few people puttin electrical tape around their plugs and effectivly dead stretching them but i'm just curious is this a good way to stretch pain free or?
Re: using tape
Yep. Taping soesn't have to be horrible. I saw in your other post you don't like it. Have you tried using ptfe tape? (also called plumbers tape or Teflon tape). It is non-adhesive and inert. I never recommend electrical tape for several reasons.
Put a few wraps on your plug, lube it up really well and put the plug back in. Wait a couple of days and do it again. It should be pain free. Maybe a little snug, but that's it. It is 'dead stretching," but only a fraction of a millimeter each time. I stretch my septum that way and experience no pain.
Just remember to oil up the plug. Ptfe can feel a little "sticky" on your ear if you don't. Good luck!

I started taping my ears when I hit 00 and never used a taper again. There is almost no pain so long as you're patient and only wrap a few layers at a time. Recently I've completely skipped 11/16 and gone from 5/8 to 3/4 in a matter of about 7-10 days. I probably could have done it more quickly, but I'm very, very concerned about maintaining the happiness of my lobes.
My two tips:
-You WILL need oil, (especially if using Teflon) I recommend Vitamin E.
-NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use electrical tape or any other type of type of tape that is not Teflon or Bondage tape. Any other type of tape (scotch, electrical, duct, etc.) will leak toxins into your body and probably leave you with a pretty nasty infection.
I prefer Teflon simply for the fact that it's cheaper and already comes in the correct width when you buy it from any store, but were I not a lazy, broke-ass college student I would go for bondage tape all the way. This Teflon shit is sticky.

I like you, new person above
Teflon tape is super easy to find too.
I've never had huge amounts of problems with it, apart from the first wrap or so creasing up on small sizes in awkward places (wrap tight!)

Re: using tape
Glad I found this thread, because I want to go up to 7/16 and don't wanna use tapers. I've been at 00g since August of this year. No problems, blow outs or any of that stuff. My question is, with the taping method how many days/cycles of plug wrapping is actually necessary? Do I have to leave my new 7/16 plugs in for a while before popping in Earskins? Are SSS necessary after I reach 7/16? I know its a bunch of questions, but I just wanna do this the right way. Any sound advice would greatly appreciated.

Re: using tape
After a few layers of tape, the 7/16's popped right in...no pain, no redness, no problems. Of course everyone will have a different experience...just know your lobes.
