To tape, or not to tape?

I'm at 6 gauge right now, and i moved up fast easily with no problems except some mild irritation and a swollen lymph node. Now that i'm getting up there in size, i want to buy a new stretching set. Iv'e been told it's healthier to start taping by 2 gauge. So what would be better, buying a set of double flares with tape, or hollow tapers. And also, could some super helpers help me find a good metal set, i stopped caring about price so much, i just car about the heath of my lobes! Thanks guys and gals!
