Bleeding on first stretch

Last night I stretched my ears for the first time (14g). I went crazy slow. Got my plugs in. All day they were itching, a bit warm, still a little burning. Went to clean them before bed, and there was a bit of blood on the qtip. Noting crazy, but it was there. Is this normal being it is my first stretch? Or should i take them out completely and try again in a few weeks. Thanks!
