Bump behind ear piercing. Help please?

Hey guys i got my ears pierced 3 months ago at a 14G, and i noticed that my left lobe has a bump around the piercing. It doesn't hurt touching it, but im concerned how this can affect stretching.

I was wondering if people on this forum would know what this bump is and how to get rid of it. And if this is normal?

Thanks :)

It could probably be a blowout. If it's then I advise you to downsize and massage with some emu or vit. E oil. That's what I've been reading about blowouts, but it's better wait for someone with more experience to tell you what to do.

Well if you got pierced at 14g and haven't stretched any then I'm not sure what it is. If you stretched up then its possible that it is a blowout, but otherwise I'm not sure. If it is a blowout downsizing might help depending how long it has been that way.

Ahh i did some research and it sounds like a hypertrophic scar. Im not sure what might have caused it but does anyone know how to get rid of it? And how will affect my streching...

thanks

How long have you had the piercings and what kind of jewelry area you wearing in them? If it's a ring, circular barbell, or straight barbell/labret that's too long it could be moving too much and causing irritation. Also, what's your aftercare routine like? If you're not already doing them, try some long sea salt soaks every day. Chamomile tea can also be really helpful... just take a teabag and soak it in re-heated water from your salt soak, then hold it on to your piercing like a compress for about 10 minutes. Or you can drop the teabag in the water and soak it that way. And make sure you're never moving/twisting the jewelry; that'll make the bump worse.
I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

I had the piercing for 3 months now with a straight barbell. When i got them pierced the pierced told me to twist the earrings daily.. After about 3 weeks i read that you shouldn't so i abandoned that method.

As for my after care routine i always clean and do sea salt soaks daily, (except for the past few weeks).

Im guessing its because of twisting the earring.. Would you know how this affects stretching?

I was told same thing after every piercing to twist so will not grow to ear. This for 14 piercings to this day still twist all including plugs several times daily never had problem.

Re: Bump behind ear piercing. Help please?

it is most likely not a pimple and do not try to pop it. It my be the start of a keloid. A keloid is a cyst that grows from a skin trauma (like a piercing). Some people get them, me being one of them. Tea tree oil helps if you catch it soon enough. You can crush up an aspirin tablet and add a few drops of water and make a paste and apply it to the area and that will help dissolve it. Asking a dermatologist doesn't hurt either.
1 1/4" each lobe. 2g septum. 12g lebret.
6g tongue retired. 12g Hand webbing retired. 12g bridge retired.
12g madison retired. 10g ampallang regretfully retired.

Stretching goal: 1" again. No real need to stop if my ears still want to go.
