Yeah it's a common misconception that twisting/moving the jewelry is necessary but it really just disrupts healing tissue.
Also, I saw in the other thread that you have an acrylic tunnel in it... I hate to be asking so many questions and calling your piercer incompetent but was it pierced with that? If so, there's no way that can be sterile because acrylic would melt in an autoclave. Also, it's not suitable for a fresh piercing as acrylic can release toxins into your skin if it's worn for a long time. You should have titanium, implant-grade surgical steel, or glass in there. And also, is your piercer aware that there are 6G/4mm needles that aren't punches? Once again, I apologize for being super nosy, this all just seems really dodgy to me...

I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

It's not nosey, I appreciate the concern :L As for the piercer though: he did know about 4mm needles, but he just didn't have any in stock as they stopped punching a while ago. They also didn't have any 4mm G23 or 316L tunnels in stock, as they were waiting for a jewellery delivery. The tunnel in it is one of my own, but he sterilised it with an antibacterial gel, which also helped to lubricate it =]
This guy was one of the first pierces in Northern Ireland, so I trusted him to know what he's doing, and do it all properly, you know? But again, I appreciate the concern =]

The tiniest spot of blood is coming out when I clean it after sleeping, and that only started yesterday, so so-far it's going really well =] Also the swelling has come down so I can now clean in under the tunnel ^^
I guess I've been kind of lucky so far, haha!

The conch was my most painful piercing...I can't imagine 4 needles right in a row. Ouch.

@ircarusLives
I had a little puss to when I stretched from a 12g to 10g. That means you have an infection in your piercing hole. I cleaned it very well two times a day with antibacterial soap, and it was gone in one week. It really shouldn't get swollen that much.
And don't touch it with filty hands, make sure you wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching it.
Hope that helpes C:

It does help, thank you very much =] It's all cleared up now though, although it does make a really weird sound when I move the tunnel. Kind of like it's wet? :/ It seems to be fully healed though so I don't think this is a problem...

Stuff coming out of a piercing is not always pus and real infections are pretty rare, so I don't think either of you had/have an infection. If it was infected, the piercing would be swollen, bright red, hot to the touch, and oozing a bright yellow or even green pus. The normal whitish/light yellow stuff that comes out of all piercings is called lymph and is secreted by all wounds.loiselisabeth wrote:@ircarusLives

One way to draw lymph out of a piercing is to use sea salt soaks. Mix 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of finely-ground sea salt into one cup of hot water and soak for 5-10 minutes every day. This will promote blood flow to the area, clean the entire piercing, and loosen crusty lymph. Antibacterial soap should be used sparingly, if at all, since it can really dry out your skin.
