Re: 14G to 8G stretch

I just don't see what's so bad about going one size at a time... and just because your piercer did it doesn't mean it's fine. It's really pretty shocking what kind of advice some piercers give about stretching. The jump from 8G-6G is hard enough for most people, and skipping to 4G is just asking for a tear or blowout. Plus you probably have some scar tissue from jumping so many sizes at the beginning so it'll be even harder.

wOW. im sorry but you guys make such a big deal out of this. i jumped from a 14g to an 8g my first time. i just did it in the steamy bathroom and put some neosporin stuff after. i kept my tapers in from about a month or so until i could afford some regular 8g plugs. after that i went from 6' to 2g to 00g and at that size i just wrapped a layer of electrical tape like once a week until i was at the next size.. btw no blowouts.

one size at a time, thats just chicken. maybe im just not afraid of pain.

Maybe you're lucky because you haven't had a blowout, but I'd rather not take risks and end up with an earlobe that looks like a cat's asshole. It's not being a chicken, it's being patient so you don't end up with hell of scar tissue, which makes future stretches pretty difficult. If you're going to stretch your ears, it's worth doing right the first time around. Better that way than screwing your ears up and trying to stretch them again in the future when they're already damaged.

I have always been told that if you strech too fast that it will be more likely to need surgery to put ear back. Is that true? :?:

Stretching too fast causes tears and scarring. Scarring means your ears are less flexible; less likely to stretch, more likely for blowouts/more tears, and less likely to downsize too.

Your piercer said it was ok to go from 14g to a 6g? whoa... that's ridiculus! Never skip sizes if you want your ear to be healthy!

You may "speak from experience," but it's bad experience. It's a little irresponsible to recommend that to someone else. You're VERY luck you've had no blowouts, but I bet your lobes don't look too healthy.

Re: 14G to 8G stretch

if my experience was bad, id say it was bad. i said i turned out fine and i did. theres no reason for me to lie. and i never said everyone would have the same result as me. and yes my ears are healthy.. i think i know a thing or two from the 8 years ive been stretching.. i wasnt offering my 2 cents to you.. i was offering it to the person who asked.

Re: 14G to 8G stretch

So just because you've been stretching for 8 years means you know everything about it? If your lobes are fine after doing all that, great, but it does not mean that other people can get away with that. For example, I waited three months between 1G and 0G, did a quick, painless stretch, and one of my lobes swelled up like crazy last night, forcing me to downsize. Can you imagine how mangled my ears would be if I skipped sizes or stretched too fast? Everyone's ears are different and there's no reason to risk careless stretching; we only get one set of earlobes so why not do what we can to make sure we don't end up with blowouts or terrible scar tissue? If your ears are healthy it's just from luck, not from the way you've been stretching.
