Why No 7mm & 9mm ?

I do not know if this has been raised before, if it has please accept my apologies.
Why is there no such sizes as 7mm & 9mm in jewellery and stretching devices as I know that a 2mm stretch can be quite painful for some when all other stretches have a 1mm difference.

Does any one have any ideas?

I have been told that once your ears are used to it and you get above 00 Gauge that it is much easier.

Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly received.

Regards
Dr Rob.

bodyjewwelleryshop has 7 mm as well, and also 9 I belive, but yes, it is often rather limited.

I believe it is because of the gauge-concept, which, as far as I know, was originally invented for wire-measurements in the building industry.

Yep, like some others already said, odd sizes are available at some sites like bodyjewelleryshop.com and bodyartforms.com. Those sizes are a must IMO; I really don't see how anyone can safely make the 6-8mm jump.
I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

I agree, that is why I asked as I will be doing that jump in a couple of weeks, and my piercer did say it is quite difficult and a little painful.

I have just found these on ebay in the UK, I am not sure if they include the 7mm & 9mm but should know soon as I sent them an email and at only £20.00 GBP plus postage for the whole set it is quite a bargain !

Here is the link....

She meant making it as a jump straight from 6mm to 8mm, i.e. without using tape.
