Question about re-stretching gauges

Alright all you lovely gauge guru's, time for another question to answer. 
I used to have a 8g.(ignore my sig, i never change it...)
Well due to family differences i.e. my mom's a conservative snuff-pot who needs to loosen up, I had to take my gauges out.
To give you a rough estimate, I've had them out since Christmas.
However, I can't take it anymore. I hate my naked baby holes and I'm simply dying to re-gauge my ears.
Is there any difficulty in that? Shouldn't it be easier since I've already done it? Would someone pretty please with a cherry on top give me something to work with, lol.
