Downsizing/repairing damaged lobe

Hi guys, this is my first post so be nice :P

Basically I'll start by admitting that I stretched my ear like a fucking idiot the first time around. I did the usual noob thing of not waiting enough time between sizes, forcing tapers through, and wearing tapers as jewellery.
Anyway I have come to realise my mistake, although unfortunately all the repentance in the world won't get rid of the scar tissue in my lobes. My ear isn't too horribly damaged, just a little less stretchy than before and not very pleasant to look at, but I realise that the problem can get worse, so I'm downsizing, and will use proper, sensible stretching techniques in future.
I had been stretched up to 10mm, however my ear downsized to 8mm after I had my tunnel knocked out in a mosh pit (It was a double flare that popped right out, thankfully). I've now been at 8mm for a few months, my right ear will be ready to start stretching soon, and I plan to stretch both ears to a reasonably large size, so I've decided to downsize my lobe to make the process as easy as possible.
I took out my tunnel today and I plan to do regular massages, so basically I'm asking how frequently I should massage, how long I should keep at it before I restart stretching again, and if there's anything else I should be doing or if you have any other advice for me.
Thanks :)

At least once a day, and twice a day isn't a bad idea. Basically anytime you're sitting around staring at the tv, you should have your massage oil close by. The longer you wait, the better off your ear will be, so I encourage you to just put stretching out of your mind as much as possible. Make it something you will do, eventually, but not something you need anytime in the next few months.

Buying beautiful jewelry helps me to stay at a size when I'm being impatient. Get something badass in 8mm to help prevent getting bored at your size.

Keep massaging, all the time. Whether in between stretches or after you've reached your goal, massaging will always help your piercings stay healthy.
