Best way to heal?

So I just got my ears pierced about 9 hours ago. My piercer told to use this anti-bacterial solution he gave me to help the healing. I heard all about the sea salt soak and was wondering if that would be better? If so how would I keep them from drying out, because he told me that soaking it like that really drys it out, and can make it worse. But a lot of people on here say that it works awesome.

Thanks.

Really either way is fine. You can just wash them with anti bacterial soap, or SSS three to five times daily. Just don't over due to SSS because like the piercer said too much can dry them out. So either is fine
Ps SSS= sea salt soak.... And use non iodized salt

Alright thanks. I have both the sea salt and what he gave me. I think I will just use the solution he gave me for a little bit, and then maybe switch to sea salt after like a month.

I'm assuming what he gave you is similar to the solution given by Claire's and other crappy ear piercing places in the mall... if so, I'd just skip that all together and do SSS. Sprays like that will do nothing for healing; they'll kill some good and bad bacteria and that's about it.

SSS actually promotes healing because of the heat and because salt is found in your body. It can dry out your piercings if you use too much salt, or if you soak too much, but avoid doing those things and it's the best thing you can do. Make sure the mixture is no saltier than 1/4 teaspoon salt per one cup water and do one or two 5-10 minute soaks a day and you'll be fine.

If what he gave you is salt spray like H2Ocean, that's good for you, but it doesn't give you the benefits of soaking because there's no heat. I do use saline spray on my piercings sometimes but it's always after a hot shower so the skin will absorb more of it.

I'm not sure if it's the same one that Claires gives but I just soaked my ears for the first time. And I guess I will continue to do that. Should I rub some E oil on it just to make sure they don't dry out? Or do you think me rubbing it on with irritate them?

Also, I like to go to the gym about 2-3 times a week and I get really sweaty. On days that I go, should I soak them a 3rd time?

If the SSS dries your lobes out, try using less salt in them or doing them less frequently. If that doesn't help, just rub a little bit of fragrance free moisturiser on the outside of your lobe gently. You could use some vit-e oil instead, just use it sparingly because a single drop does go pretty far :)

On the days you go to the gym, just make sure you wash your ears off with some antibacterial soap in the shower afterwards, since the build up of sweat and body oils can make you get pimples on your earlobes (which are incredibly unpleasant and painful especially when they're right next to the piercing).

I'm using 1/4 teaspoon in a coffee mug and just holding that up to my ear for 5 minutes. I'm sure they will be fine because that is the recommended amount.

Make sure it's an 8 oz coffee mug because some are 6 oz. Other than that, sounds like you're doing well! And if you go to the gym I'd just soak as you normally would, but do one right after you get back.
