I've had my 8g tapers for a bit over 6 months now and I've decided to go up a size. I bought 6g acrylic crescent stretchers as referred to by the lady at the store but when I put them in it hurt. After having taken them off & on throughout the night and cleaning, I woke up the next morning with a bit of blood and my ear were still sore. I'm not sure why I am having such problems if I've had my 8g ears for so long. Advice? Suggestions? Please help!

they could be sore because you were taking them in and out .. why were you doing that ?, 6 months is a good amount of time , they shouldnt have had much trouble stretching .. Im assuming you used a good amount of lube ? humm maybe its a reaction to the material .. I wish I could help more .. good luck

8g -> 6g Is your first 1mm jump.
Many people have problems with this stretch, your ears probably weren't ready to stretch.
You really shouldn't be wearing tapers as jewelry or stretching with acrylic jewelry.
As for your ear, you should downsize back to 8g and do SSS once a day, while also babying your lobes.

Agreed. Don't stretch with acrylic. Don't wear tapers, not to bed, not ever. Also, I'll add, don't mess around with a fresh stretch, cleanliness is great, but obsessing is bad! Your problem might be a combination of not leaving your ears alone and sleeping with that jewelry in.

Okay great, I've been taking off my tapers and leaving my ears alone for hours at a time. I guess I should just stick to the 8g for a few more months; are plugs suggested to keep on overnight?
Thanks everyone for the help!

yes plugs are good to sleep in id try some screw on tunnels they will stay in better than single or double flares when sleeping

I keep my plugs in overnight. Just depends on how fast your lobes shrink down, mine are pretty quick to shrink. At larger sizes some ppl will wear silicone on healed lobes to sleep. Some ppl feel that they need to let their ears rest overnight. I go without plugs forbade course hours a few times a week and that works for me. Tapers are no good for sleeping or even daytime jewelry because they are just too long and heavy.
