Taping

Hi

Back again with another question

History

Dead stretched up to a 2.5mm no problems at all
Used a Taper to stretch to a 3mm and did not like using them at all!!

I have been at my 3.2mm in both ears for just over 3months now. I massage everyday and there is still a bit of resistance with using my 4mm taper. I really do not want to use a taper again as I didn't like it the last time.

I looked into taping so got some ptfe tape and wrapped my single flare ONCE but when I put it in my lobe the bloody tape rode up the plug!!!! It felt totally fine no burn etc but no tape on all of the plug...uuuuhhhhh

Please tell me what I am doing wrong, or is 3.2mm to small to start taping? This was a far more comfy and gradual way so would like to carry on with it......

Thanks for the advice for a newbie

Re: Taping

3mm seems way too tiny to tape. i had difficulty using tape at a size 2g LOL.

dead stretching like you're doing is the best way to go. it just takes a lot longer because your ears loosen up over time :)

good luck!

Re: Taping

Are you using any oils like vitamin e or jojoba oil? If not get some. I used vitamin e oil, it has the consistency of honey, use a little on the plug then wrap the tape around then apply more oil for lubrication. The oil will make the tape adhere to the plug. It should not ride up if you've lubed it up after wrapping. Hope that helps. I just went from an 8g to 6g in five days of taping because the taper was too big of a stretch for me.

Re: Taping

Yep you definitely need lube if you aren't using any. Should make the tape turn translucent. Jojoba oil or water based sex lube (ooh minty fresh!) work well for me. But I've used olive oil a few times XD
Also make sure to get any creases out. And have a bit of an overlap, so it has something to stick to.
3.2mm is difficult to tape well, but it is possible. The first layer is usually the hardest to do right!

Sometimes if the tape is too long for the wearable, I don't trim it down, just twist the end and trim off the excess. Its much harder for the tape to wrinkle up then.
