stupid question about tapers

This is the first time I use tapers. simple question. I put them in and I'm gonna leave them in for a little bit before putting in the jewelry. when I take them off, should I pull them out the way I put them in, or do I push them all the way through?

Your supposed to pull the tapers all the way through and follow with the plugs your going to wear, do not twist or turn your jewelry
