im going to self-pierce my bottom lip.
(please dont sit here and tell me how horrible it is and such. I know the risks but it's something i wanna do and plan to do well.)\anyway, i want it straight down the center of my lip and i want to wear a captive bead ring with it but:
a. im black and therefore, have....um...... larger lips than most. im wondering if a cbr would even fit.
b:would the metal hit my teeth?
c.i havent seen anyone with a piercing right in the middle. always either left or right, snake bites or angel bites. do people even get it right in the middle and if not, is there a reason why, and if so, could you tell me?
that's about all. thanks.
(i can tell ppl are still going to berate me about self piercing so i'll try and put you off of that by saying that i will not be using a sewing needle that i burned with a cig lighter and then trying to shove 16g jewelry into a 22g hole. i'll be using a properly gauged, sterile, hollow, piercing needle as well as using a new steel cbr in the piercing. -shrug-)

I wouldn't recommend a CBR for healing, honestly. Especially in a lip piercing. Lips are notorious for swelling and the ring might not be big enough. Also the ring will move around in the piercing a lot more than a labret stud would and that can cause it to swell even more, or just get irritated. You might find that it's really difficult to heal with a ring in.

You'll be a lot happier if you go to a professional because they will choose the appropriate jewelry that is the right size for you, but if you want to do it it sounds like you've got the right idea. However, keep in mind that new jewelry that you buy at a store or order online is not sterilized. In order for your jewelry to be sterile you'll need to have it autoclaved, and some websites will actually do that for you.

thanx for the advice.
i'll see if i can find a longer than average labret stud to accommodate for swelling.

i was just going to sanitize the jewelry in rubbing alcohol but now i think i'll see if BAF can autoclave it. since i havent bought it yet if i buy from them i think their autoclave service is only $5.

I read once that rubbing alcohol doesnt kill as much germs as you think and you have to soak it in the alcohol for like 24 hours or something you cant just dip it lol but yeah I think for 5 $ id just get the autoclave service .. good luck
