I had an idea; use thinly cut strips of plastic wrap (aka cling wrap, saran wrap, etc) as a replacement for nonadhesive tape.



It's cheap, abundant, and super sticky only to itself, without adhesives. People use it for their food, so I doubt it would be toxic in any way. I think this would be especially useful at smaller sizes where taping could become frustrating. It seems like a much safer alternative for the people who insist on being ghetto, and would leave them without excuse for dangerous taping methods like using scotch tape.

So I'm asking everyone their thoughts on this. Do you think it would cause irritation or adhere to the fistula? Do you think it's a good idea? Has anyone tried it?

I could see it not being able to hold it's strength very well and it might be really frustrating to keep it evenly layered around your jewelry. I use PTFE tape at small sizes and it's so cheap that I don't see why anyone would have to look for a cheaper alternative.

I just think it would be an easy household alternative to going out and buying PTFE. But yes you have a valid point.

Its all about the electric tape foo!!! just cut it in half an its perfect size, easy to layer, just thick enuf to make sizes easier to go up without wrapping 50 time for 1 size. =D

I used to use electrical tape to stretch my ears. I also used to wear mountain climbing clips in my ear that were made out of aluminum. This really was not a grand idea. I figured out both those things contained materials which were toxic to the body.
Used to see kids walking around with batteries in their ear. Yeah, battery acid is going nowhere near my piercings.

You shouldn't be putting anything with adhesive material in your lobes.
Anyway... I've never heard of anyone using plastic wrap, but it doesn't seem like that great of an idea. It seems like it would stick to your ears pretty easily, and probably be even worse than acrylic plugs as far as giving off toxins goes.

Also... am I the only one who realizes that plumber's tape is a lot cheaper than plastic wrap?

PTFE is readily available. If people insist on using electrical tape, thats their own silly fault (thats normally more expensive too)

And cling film is always so frustrating! Its either not sticky at all. Or when you cut it it gets all screwed up and stuck to itself. I can just imagine trying to cut it into small strips.. Trying to not get creases in it, ha.
Plus it doesn't stick well once you attack it with lube.

Yeah, cling wrap sucks at the initial purpose it was intended for anyway.

Oh my... lol Ive been using electrical tape to stretch for a while now and i have had no problems( i do realize that sum people may have reactions to it) As long as u take out ur electrical tape wrapped plugs every day and rinse them u will be fine. And no its not expensive at all, i got 3 rolls of electric tape for 1 dollar. PTFE was readily available for me to use, but the problems with it is it just makes u pissed off. It crinkles, The edges turn up when u try to put it in ur ear. It fuckin absorbs jojoba oil and gets all nasty. Just in general its a frustrating thing to use. Electric tape goes on perfect, no trouble. Takes 5 seconds to put a new wrap as opposed to like 10 mins with PTFE.
