At the moment i only have an acrylic plug in the next size gauge, and at this time i am unable to purchase any other.
Will it be okay to put in an acrylic plug after pushing through my taper. i know people say they are not a good material, but is the worst that can happen from using them an infection??

You really don't want to risk getting an infection. The reasoning behind not using acrylic/bone/wood etc. is that it is porous. You can't really get these clean. I'm not sure exactly what can happen if you use it, but I would definately wait for some input from someone more experienced.

Some people think when acrylic is worn for a long time it can release toxins that can irritate your ears. It's also not usually recommended for fresh stretches because it is pretty porous.
The truth is, most people can stretch with acrylic with no problems. I usually don't recommend stuff that's risky at all but this is an exception... If you stretch with it I'd get some jewelry in a better material soon but I seriously doubt anything bad is going to come out of using it.

Acrlyic is fine is u wear it for no more than a week an a half or so. Ne longer is pushing it. I wore black acrylic tapers at 7/16 an i thought *oh im fine ill leave these in* but it was a couple months before i got new tapers for the next size. One day i went to take them out an my ears hurt. When i took them out there was black paint on my fistulas an i couldnt get it off. It came off after a few months, but it was highly uncomfortable. Just be careful, watch ur ears.

well since tapers are tools and not jewelry, that could have been part of your problem.

Acrylic in kinda fresh stretches collects smelly ear cheese like nothing else (for me anyway)
At least with metal it washes off easily...
Some people have really horrible reactions to it. Though I don't, I still don't wear acrylic too often.
Can just imagine what my ears would get like if I used it in very fresh streches. Ick.

Forgive me if i took ur comment the wrong way. But i sure as hell know that tapers are fuckin tools lol im not a dumbass. U can wear tapers as jewelry if u want, they arent super dangerous an they wont hurt u. I found my own way in stretching without stick in ass guidelines that are excessive. If u didnt mean it that way then im sorry for the above post =) sup man?

I don't think the comment was a dig, I think it was just a general observation.
Where did you get those tapers from though? They sound a bit dodgy.
