I begged him not to do it

So today at my retail job a guy came in and said he was at 1" for his earlobes. At first glance I could tell he was either 3/4" or 7/8" but he was positive he was an inch. I had him hold his plug next to all 3 sizes and he was (eyeball estimate) at 3/4", but instead he says "I bet I could shove the 1" in there." I tried to give him all the advice and sound logic I had to offer, but it was to no avail. His earlobes were already dangerously thin and I'm sure you all know where this is going.
Basically a long painful story short, this guy purchased a pair of 1" Double Flare plugs, opened the package in the store and began to attempt shoving them though. I begged him to not do it and his only reply was "I've almost got it!" and then pow... the guy ripped out his own earlobe. Without a single word, this guy turned around and walked right out of the store. I am curious if he will ever come back to the shop.
So that was my day, how is everyone else doing?
