Conflicted...

My ears are at 7/8" and I absolutely love them.
Since I'm only 17, I think it would be good if I downsized to 1/2" because I have to think about my future(mostly jobs and careers).
I like the look of 1/2", but I feel like I will miss my 7/8" too much.
I'm not sure what I want to do.

Well, your ears probably aren't going to shrink too much if they're already at 7/8". So even if you wear smaller jewelry you'll probably still be able to wear 7/8". Stretches that size are usually permanant.

Your answer don't make any sense corazon? He/she's talking about shrinking them to 1/2, not shrinking them at nothing. Sure he/she can shrink them to 1/2.

Tasfullytwisted: Shrinking is fast, so if you do it right now or when you will HAVE to do it absolutely, it doesnt make a big difference. Shrink them when it will be the time to do it.

Split the difference if you've got all your old jewelry still. See how it feels, and if you miss 7/8" too much then just restretch. If you aren't crying over it, then go back to 1/2". It's often easier to stretch the second time around anyway, so you can change your mind in the future. Course, you won't be able to see how well they shrink until you try it, there's a chance it could take awhile to get to 1/2", and of course there's always a chance your ears won't shrink much at all.

If you're only 17, you're not going to be hopping straight into a career job. I wouldn't downsize yet unless it's for health reasons. I'm @ 2" and I just take my jewelry out for interviews and such. I've never had anyone say anything about them with my jewelry out. If you're looking to get a mall job or something. They won't care if you leave your plugs out. Alot more places are even allowing jewelry to be worn. Like Gamestop for example (where I was former management with 2" lobes, and a full visible sleeve)

When did I say anything about them shrinking all the way? I said they probably won't shrink MUCH at that size. Do you just try to find things wrong with my posts?

Any size stretch can be permanant and while 7/8" might get a little smaller it's not guaranteed. It's worth a try, though; maybe start going without jewelry and see if they get any smaller. But the point is, if you're not comfortable with having 7/8" lobes for the rest of your life you shouldn't have stretched to 7/8". Stretching is not a reversible body modification most of the time, especially larger sizes.

I don't understand why you say that they won't shrink that much. Its evident here that you never had larger stretchs. My friend had 32 mm and they shrank to like, 14 mm. And it's the king of guy that streched his ears to 32 mm in like, a year. 7/8 is not that big. In a month or two, maybe less, they'll be down to 12 mm.

It's not a guarantee though. You can't tell people "this size will shrink up to this size" because it doesn't work that way. You shouldn't stretch to 7/8" if you're not okay with the POSSIBILITY of being at 7/8" forever, and I think most people with larger stretches would agree with me. It should be seen as permanant, not temporary.
