well you souldnt keep tapers in past the stretch, they are just tools after all. i would invest in a single or no flare plug and put them in after you pull the taper through. just line up the back of the plug with the end of the taper and push it through in one easy motion, like this:

thats great,thanks alott.
last night i decided to add electrical tape to move up nice and easy.
that seems to be working very well for me,its great that theres
such choices.
i dont leave the tapers in,I just generally feel awkward with them.
where as the plugs none flared I am very happy with,so adding the tape makes total sense to me.
thanks again

I know you said you're just going to continue using the electrical tape despite the risks, but you should really consider using plumber's tape. It's less than a dollar for a roll and, depending on how large you want to stretch, should last you for your whole stretching journey. It's made out of a material that's much better for your lobes and it doesn't have glue that can really irritate them.

that sounds great, though I am crazy stubborn.
the tape is good,my ears are doing great
no problems at all,if there was I would sort it and go for another option.
though thanks for your recommendations, very much appreciated.
