dead stretching?

its basically not taping or tapering, or any other method, its just shoving another plug of a bigger gauge inside your lower gauge ear (1 gauge at a time ofcourse)

oh i've been doing that with my silicone tunnels, but i don't ""shove" them in, i fold the tunnel in half and put it in and let go and they'll just pop open and stretch my ears slowly : D

i dont think you are supposed to stretch with sillicone. ive never done it so i dont know but a lot of people say its not good for your ears

I've been stretching without tapers from 16G to 10G. I might end of getting tapers eventually, but it hasn't been a problem for me. I usually wait about 2 months until my ear is used to the size and usually the next size goes in pretty easily. If not, I wait a little longer. I'll probably use tapers from here on out though.

i think theres two kinds of silicon plugs.. the ones that existed first are really hard and bulky, squishy but not bendy..

those i believe are bad.

from my own experience with them, i tore my ear with one of these and left the plug in thinking itd be fine. hurt more then normal but not that much more. well my ear ended up swelling over the plug and it hurrrt sooo bad after one night of sleeping, and was almost impossible to take my plug out because of the double flare shape.

however there are plugs that came out just this year or last, i first saw them at hot topic, theyre thin, and soft, and very bendable..
these are actually for stretching just by folding it in your ear gauge and allowing time to stretch gradually..

i have never used these to stretch before so i have no idea if its true or even works... thats just what i heard.

There are cheap silicone and kaos silicone. There are eyelets and earskins of both.
Most of the problem with silicone comes from the fact its an incredibly porous and quite tacky material, and your healing skin can fuse into it. So it sort of becomes part of your skin, and its horrible to remove (takes half your skin with it too. Seen it happen, gross)
ANY silicone is bad in fresh stretches. Although parylene coated is techincally less likely to happen, its still a very bad idea.
Plus stretching with silicone is just forcing your ear to stretch, wether it likes it or not. More likely for tears, more likely to get stuck.


Dead stretching if your ears are ready is fine. Mainly at small sizes, like 14g or so. But for your ears to loosen up enough to make dead stretching okay, might take months and months, might never happen.
Rounded end jewellery only, like CBRs.

ive avoided silicon all together since that incident... i only do glass, steal, or clay. stone if i could afford it.

Avoid clay. Nasty stuff (sculpey included)
Wear it trough earskins/eyelets if you like though.


Stone doesn't have to be expensive at all.
You can get most stone under $25 for a pair of 1" (obv smaller is cheaper), and a lot cheaper.
