Stretched ear closing up?

Well I've kinda looked around but couldn't find anything on it... I got my ears pierced 5 months ago and have been following the month between small stretches and I'm in an 8g now... How long can I keep my plugs out without downsizing or the hole closing up? Thanks

I think that various from person to person. I took my 00's out almost 10 years ago, and after only a few days of regular earrings, I popped in a 10 and am now at a 6 only after a few weeks without any resistance or pain. I did, however, remove my 8s for a few days and they didn't close up at all. I'm not sure if that's the answer you were looking for, but hope it helps.
