A Couple Dumb Questions from a Veteran Stretcher EDIT: Pics!

--Thanks so much for the replies, I really appreciate it! I have some jewelry coming from BodyArtForms and one of my freebies with this order is a vial of Jojoba oil...I'm really looking forward to taking care of my lobes properly! One last question: Is there anything specific I should be doing masssage-wise? How long should I massage for? How often?

I just stretched from 2g (which I've had for almost 8 years) up to 0g this past December (2010). I really didn't have any trouble with the stretch, at least not to the extent that I've read other people have had on this board. I might just be kinda stretchy, but I took it really slowly. When I started stretching back in 2001 I did a whole lot of research (mainly to appease my mother, so she knew what I was getting into) so I could do it correctly. I just learned about the oil and massage part of stretched piercing care. I feel like a dweeb for missing this pretty important part of stretching maintenance.

Is it too late for me to take care of my lobes now? I've never had a blowout and I don't really have catbutt. But I am apologizing to my poor lobes for not caring for them as well as I could have been.

Is there anything else, maintenance-wise that I'm missing? I'm also thinking of stretching my second set of lobe piercings from 4g to 2g...the piercings are a little close together, so I'm not sure if it would be the best idea. I could provide pics if that would help with the advice.
(I just found this forum yesterday and have been having a great time reading through the threads, I'm learning so much!)

It's never too late. Add some pics to the thread and we'll be able to more accurately help you :)
The sound of gun fire so loud and rapid, but it seems to be so quiet around me, and out of nowhere I feel peace cover me. I reach down and reload my ticket home. The taste of cold steel on my lips, and a second later silence fills the January air...

This is only relevant to asking questions -

** No Question is a Dumb/Silly question **

Someone else may have the same question but scared to write it down - nobody can learn anything without asking questions.

Have a great weekend everyone,

It's definitely not too late to start doing oil massages! Regularly massaging your lobes with emu oil, vitamin E oil, jojoba oil, etc. can really improve the look of your stretched holes. It breaks down scar tissue and just makes them healthier in general. :)
I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

I just started massaging lobes at 4G I had never heard of it until I found this site.

My naked hole has no blow outs I can see, or rips nor scar tissue. Unfortunately I do have a small piece that hangs from top of hole (I think I find it very hard to see my own ear, but I do know that without jewelry and when I pull it around to see it, my hole looks closed. This can not be case jewelry fits in very easily, and I have only been 2G for two weeks.

I too am hoping massages with tea tree oil will help.

My order from Bodyartforms arrived just after noon today. I was so excited to get my new jewelry and my little tiny free bottle of Jojoba oil. I've already used it for a lobe massage once today, and my lobes feel really nice afterward. I'm going to do it once more before I sack out as well. I am, of course, wearing part of my order...a pair of 0g fluorite plugs and a pair of 4g black horn teardrop eyelets. Happy ear day^.^

Here's a picture of my left ear, showing off some of my new pretties:
