Where to start?

Hello,

I had my ears pierced on december 3rd last year, i waited 5-6 weeks to heal then took the studs out, i had no infections, no soreness (only for the first 2 days) or any bleeding etc... it looks like i've kept them in good shape and healthy.

i bought some fake plugs so i could kind of get an idea on what my ears stretched could look like, anyhow i have decided that i will stretch my ears, i just have a few questions on where to start..

1. I had them done using a gun, does this make any difference timewise on when to stretch them?
2. how long should i wait to start stretching them?
3. For when i begin would a 2mm taper be ok for my 1.2mm piercing?

any help would be much appreciated.

guns tend to cause more scar tissue (what i've heard and first hand experienced)
if you've waited over a year, your far over the time of 'good to go'
as far as what size?
i use the gauge/fraction system.
i jumped from regular size (20G) to 8G
wasn't a bad idea except for the ear with scar tissue (aka the one pierced with a gun)
so, imo: do each step properly.

1. For future reference, never have anything pierced with a gun. They can't be completely sterilized and they force a blunt object through skin, creating more trauma (and more scar tissue) than a piercing needle. I'd wait slightly longer than normal to begin stretching if I were you.
2. You should wait about 6 months (no less than four months) after an initial piercing to do your first stretch. Since you had them done with a gun, I'd say absolutely no less than six.
3. No, you'd be skipping a size. Go to 1.6mm first.
